Hypnotherapy uses the application of hypnotic techniques to bring about change and is a very pleasant and relaxing experience. It is often referred to as a trance state and has many similarities with REM sleep. Trance is when the conscious and subconscious parts of our mind come together and focus on the same thing.
It is very ordinary and we go into trance many times a day, for example when driving, out for a run, or absorbed in our favourite song or TV programme. While hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool, the client also needs to be committed to the process and ready to take those steps that can allow change to happen.
Solution focused hypnotherapy is not to be confused with stage show hypnosis seen on TV. The client is in control at all times.
