Frequently Asked Questions:
Will you make me cluck like a chicken?
I have heard this question a few times and while it does make me smile the answer is most definitely not. You, the client, are always in control and would never do or say anything you didn’t want to.
Hypnotherapy is like trance. We go in and out of a trance like state throughout the day, while listening to music we love, or driving an easy journey for example. While trance is very natural and very ordinary, it can be very powerful. It is when the conscious and sub-conscious come together and focus on the same thing. When that happens we can give your sub-conscious the message you want to give it. The sub-conscious basically runs the show of our lives without us even realizing it. Getting it to work for us can be life-changing.
Is on-line as effective as face to face?
I must admit I was reluctant at first to go online, but it became necessary during lockdown. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by how well it works. It seems to do the job just as well. Of course face to face can be more enjoyable in terms of human interaction but I now see clients from all over the UK instead of just Bristol and Somerset. My on-line clients do just as well as those I see face to face.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on you. You are completely in control of how many sessions you have. Some people get what they want relatively quickly while I have seen others over a longer period of time. As a guideline the usual number of sessions will be 8 to 12. Some clients need less and others prefer a long-term approach, using the appointments as a kind of coaching session, maintaining progress and building on changes made.
I still have hypnotherapy and coaching myself now and again if I feel my ‘stress-bucket’ is filling up or I have a particular challenge I want to solve or goal I want to reach. I also have supervision where I can discuss a new situation or challenge a client is facing if necessary. The client remains anonymous in this discussion.
Payment is ‘pay as you go’ so there is no obligation to continue appointments in any way.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, unless disclosure is required by law (e.g. for safeguarding concerns). It is also important, if we are working on line, for the client to take responsibility for confidentiality, ensuring they can speak freely and not be overheard. If you have any further questions, please do get in touch. I offer a free initial consultation.
